A set of audio files showing different coding and compression quality. The set is composed of zipped archives containing audio recordings at different sampling and quantization rates, or compressed at different speed. The archives and filenames are representative of the audio features.
MPEG Streamclip is a powerful free video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies. VcDemo is an interactive image and video compression free-ware software package for Windows.
It is intended as a tool for learning about compression techniques: from basic sampling and PCM to today's most advanced scalable embedded zerotree wavelet image compression technique, and the MPEG video compression standard.
VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms (98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Vista/7), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.
